Race Car Live! was held at Brands Hatch on the weekend of the 20th and 21st of November. It's a demonstration to the public and other racers of some of the series, cars and technologies available in UK club racing. This year saw it presenting static displays, circuit driving and rallycross demonstrations.
This was Karen's first chance to help support Tengu Do Motorsport as a proper member of the team. Karen helped meet and greet the public in the pits and was also given the opportunity to drive Martin's car for a session. Having previously found Brands Hatch to be a bit of a bogey circuit for her, Karen quickly got into a great rhythm and had fun chasing down and passing a Porsche GT3. However, this didn't go to her head as she was lapped a couple of times by an Aston Martin Vantage GT4! Certainly the best sounding session grouping of the entire demonstration.
Martin provided exciting rides for passengers and also had a couple of other racing drivers try driving the car for themselves, including ex-BTCC champion Andy McLennan. Andy certainly provided the team with useful feedback and he enjoyed driving the car.
Karen even managed to show her talents as a domestic godess, helping to clear up the mess created by Martin deciding to bring half a tonne of the Paddock Hill Bend kitty-litter back into the garage with him!
Martin White, Team Principal and Director of Tengu Do Motorsport (Pictured above) was so impressed with Karen whilst she stood in for him driving recently, that he invited her to join the team!
Karen will be driving her own car again in 2011, but it will receive attention from the Tengu Do Motorsport Team and the plan is it will be painted and receive a graphics package to make it a true sister car to Martin's own #29 Impreza WRX RA.
Karen's really looking forward to enjoying racing with the Tengu Do Motorsport Team next season and is very grateful for the opportunity.
